Job Description
Position Summary:
The Campus Police Officer is a member of the С»ÆÊé Campus Police Department, which serves and protects the college community. The Officer is responsible for maintaining security and safety of persons and property; identifying potential security and safety hazards; being observant and responding to potential criminal activity on campus; maintaining good public relations by assisting others as a source of information and direction; controlling and regulating traffic and parking; and investigating all security, safety, and traffic incidents. Enforcing Georgia Law and С»ÆÊé policy.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Patrol on foot, vehicle, and bicycle all areas of the campus.
- Watch for potential criminal activity on campus, such as trespassing, vandalism, etc.
- Conduct routine and special request locking and unlocking of campus buildings.
- Enforce parking and traffic regulations.
- Investigate all security and safety incidents and traffic accidents.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Provide escorts for campus community.
- Provide vehicle unlocks and motorist assists for campus community.
- Inspect and maintain physical safety concerns on campus such as lighting and fire systems.
- The officer must be a POST Mandated Peace Officer they shall carry an approved sidearm at all times while on duty. A proficiency level of at least 80% must be maintained on an approved firearm qualification course.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provide security for college sponsored functions
- Transport money and documents
- Supervise, indirectly, all activities on campus, which might have a security or safety interest
- Identify areas of energy waste.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
High School degree or equivalent required, some college preferred. Must be adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including overtime; must be a certified peace officer in the state of Georgia in good standing with the Georgia Peace Officer and Standards Training Council (POST). The Officer must maintain a level of physical fitness that would enable him or her to perform duties typically associated with police and security work. The Officer must possess a current Georgia driver's license and be insurable as related to the operation of a College vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- At least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid drivers' license with a safe driving record.
- Favorable background check with no criminal record,
- Military, law enforcement and/or security experience preferred.
- Possess computer skills.
